The Slipway House, Northbridge

Designed in response to the curving lines of the architecture by Walter Barda Design, Slipway House is inspired by activity and connection. Located in Sydney’s North Shore, the resulting home sits enviably overlooking a sparkling blanket of moving vessels in the water, basking in the meditative quality of the sun engaging with the moving ripples. Throughout the home, staged over many levels as it navigates its steeply sloping site, the interaction between the indoor and outdoor spaces aids in defining the experience of the home. Large glazed openings allow natural ventilation and illumination internally and in select courtyards that are drenched in sun at various points throughout the day.

Mosman House

This family home is positioned on two vertical adjacent sites, allowing generous open living areas and wide views to Sydney Harbour. The style is strong, classic and inherently sophisticated. The entry drama is emphasised by a double volume space with views to the Harbour. Recessed into the hillside, the main living area is below street level for privacy. It opens on two sides, to the expansive Harbour view and to a secluded garden with exposed rock feature; embracing the sense of being surrounded by natural elements. Clever architectural detailing and engineering solutions enable unique features: structure-free living areas, large concrete overhangs and impressive canopies.

Seaforth House

Overlooking Middle Harbour and the Spit Bridge, the Seaforth residence makes the most of the unique promontory nature of the battle axe block with a 20m drop from the street to the water and two historic Port Jackson Figs melded into rock formations informed the design of the four story house. Central to the clients is an appreciation of each other’s cultures and as such this home is a union of Japanese influences and the modern Australian beach house vernacular. With the design lead by team TKD Architects in collaboration with their client, the outcome is a ‘warm, open and inviting’ waterfront home that takes advantage of site’s unique topography and expansive views over Middle Harbour filtered by the unique fig trees.
