Hydronic heating is relied on across Europe to be the main heat source in homes, with adaptation into many elements and forms around the world for many decades. In the last 10 years, wall radiator panels and underfloor heating has become the preferred heating choice in homes across Australia.
Using the basic principles of rising heat, hydronic heating is efficient and reliable. Hydronic heating is a superb alternate to hot-air heating systems.
Hydronic underfloor heating heats the floor with tubing that carries hot water. Heat from the warm floor rises gently, and evenly across a room to heat people and objects. And as the floor is warm, heat losses from our body are minimised since our feet are warm. Suitable floor finishes include polished concrete, tile, stone, carpet, vinyl and floating or glue down timber floors.
Wall radiators naturally circulate heat through convection from a relatively small heated area at a much higher temperature (compared to underfloor heating). Radiators have the quickest response time of any hydronic radiant heating system.
Central to every hydronic heating system is the heat source. With so many hydronic heating heat source options available, it can be hard to know which system is right for you.
Hydronic Heating Gas Boiler
Hydronic gas boilers provide high thermal heating efficiency at lower running costs compared to traditional gas or electric heating. Condensing boiler technology is the latest in boiler innovation boasting up to 98.6% efficiency at 50/30deg C.
- Easy installation
- Low running costs
- Condensing gas boilers can achieve a thermal efficiency of up to 98.6%
- Can also be used for your domestic hot water
- Available as Natural Gas or LPG
Hydronic Heat Pump (air to water)
Hydronic heat pumps heat water with savings up to 65% on energy consumption compared to gas water heating systems. And because they don't rely on direct sunlight, they operate in all seasons absorbing solar energy from the air during the day and night.
- Extremely energy efficient with very low running costs
- Perfect for households with no access to natural gas
- Can be used for domestic hot water and hydronic heating
Solar Hydronic Combi
A thermal energy bank collects & stores solar heated water using evacuated tubes. A backup boost (gas or electric heat pump) connected to the thermal energy bank ensures the system provides sufficient hot water throughout the day & night for hydronic heating, while at the same time taking care of the pool and domestic hot water needs.
- Reduce both your energy use and power bills for the long-term
- Provides solar domestic hot water, hydronic heating and pool heating
Wood Pellet Boiler
Wood pellet boilers offers an off-grid solution that can provide all the comforts of gas fired boilers, including hydronic heating and domestic hot water, while also providing beautiful flame aesthetics
- An ideal heat source if you have the resources, but don’t have access to natural gas
- Wood pellets aren’t subject to as many price fluctuations as gas or electric, plus they’re renewable
Hydronic Electric Boiler
- More expensive to run, but affordable to install and highly efficient
- Smaller in size with little noise, so can be installed inside the home easily
- Can be coupled with a storage cylinder to provide hot water for the household
