Radiant Heat

Radiant heat is the movement of infrared (radiant) heat waves across air spaces from one warm object to a cooler object.

Radiant Heat

Example: You walk into a cold room and sit in front of a radiator heater. You immediately start to feel warm even though the air temperature in the room has not changed. The radiant heater is providing infrared energy to you faster than the air in the room is conducting it away. Infrared energy can be transferred directly to an object faster than through convection.
