Heat ConductionHeat conduction is the direct-heat flow through a solid object. It always takes place from an object of higher temperature to an object of lower temperature in an attempt to equalize temperature differences. Example: You place your hand on a cold counter surface. You feel the cold from the counter surface as your body begins to quickly transfer heat by conduction to the counter surface. In a short time period the cold surface heats, and you no longer feel the cold from the counter surface. < Back to Glossary |
